The Problem
TradingLab initially built their academy as an MVP using Webflow CMS, Memberstack, Airtable and Make.
This setup worked for moving quickly at the beginning, but as students and content grew, its limits became increasingly visible.
Main issues:
- Webflow CMS API rate limits were impacting performance.
- The sync between Airtable and Webflow, handled through Make, was fragile.
- The platform was becoming difficult to scale with more students, courses, and custom logic.
The point was not simply to "change LMS". TradingLab did not want to move to standard solutions like Teachable or WordPress plugins, because they needed to keep control over design, integrations, and product evolution.
The Solution

I supported TradingLab as a technical partner in planning v2 of the academy: we clarified what to keep from the MVP, chose the right tools to overcome the existing limits, and then I developed the new student portal starting from the Figma design.
The goal was to keep Webflow as the front-end, while replacing the data layer with a more solid architecture: Xano for backend and application logic, Wized to connect the interface to the APIs, and Memberstack to preserve the existing authentication system.
Custom Backend with Xano

I built a scalable backend on Xano to manage:
- Users & roles
- Courses, modules and lessons
- Student progress tracking
- Quizzes and learning logic
This meant the academy's core logic no longer depended on CMS limitations and could grow with the product.
Memberstack Integration

Memberstack was connected directly to Xano, keeping the existing authentication system while improving the data layer without forcing users into a different experience.
Academy Events & Webhooks
I implemented a custom event system using Xano triggers, so the academy can notify third-party tools via webhooks when specific actions occur.
Frontend Logic with Wized
With Wized, I connected the Webflow frontend to Xano, turning the Figma design into a working student portal where users can:
- Access courses
- Track progress
- Interact with lessons and quizzes
Why This Stack
- Webflow for speed, SEO and pixel-perfect design
- Wized for powerful frontend JS logic and API calls
- Xano for a scalable, flexible and future-proof backend
This setup lets TradingLab keep control over the product without being locked inside a rigid LMS.
The Outcome
- Improved performance & scalability
- Reliable integrations with external tools
- Flexible architecture ready for new features
- Brand-consistent, custom student experience
The platform now supports thousands of students and has become the core product of TradingLab's online business.
"I’m amazed, GREAT WORK!"
